Hungary wants to see the details of the European Union's proposal for sanctions on Russian oil and gas imports before it decides whether or not to block them, Prime Minister Viktor Orban's chief of staff said, Reuters reported.

Hungary strongly opposes the gas and oil embargo, which Budapest says will destroy the Hungarian economy.

The country imports about 80% of its gas and 65% of the oil it needs from Russia, with MOL's refineries in Százhalombatta and Bratislava, Slovakia currently predominantly processing Russian oil.

It will take months to a year and hundreds of billions of forints to set up MOL's refineries so they can process non-Russian oil, he said.
