Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is sure that Armenia will renounce its "territorial claims," Azerbaijani media reported.

"I am confident that as a result of our actions in the post-conflict period, we will eliminate the territorial claims of Armenians in Armenia and around the world against Azerbaijan," he said.

Aliyev went even further, saying that Azerbaijan "has no territorial claims" of Armenia—despite the fact that the Azerbaijani leader always presents territorial claims to Armenia, calling Zangezur, Sevan, and Yerevan "historic Azerbaijani lands."

Also, Aliyev made it clear that Baku will negotiate with Yerevan over a "peace agreement" based solely on the five points proposed by Azerbaijan.

"We think to conduct negotiations [with Armenia] on the basis of namely these five principles. Currently, the foreign ministers, ministries of the two countries are forming working groups. And I believe that it is necessary to start concrete negotiations in near future. (…) the text of the agreement can be developed soon, can be signed," Aliyev said in his address at the 5th Congress of World Azerbaijanis—in the Azerbaijani-occupied Armenian city of Shushi, Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
