Switzerland has delayed deliveries of German weapons to Ukraine, blocking the re-export of Swiss-made ammunition used in Marder infantry fighting vehicles, which Kyiv wanted to receive, Reuters reports, citing the Swiss newspaper SonntagsZeitung.

The Marder, made by the German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall, uses ammunition made in Switzerland. Switzerland restricts the re-export of such military equipment to conflict zones.

The newspaper quotes a representative of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), who said that he received two requests from Germany to transfer ammunition received from Switzerland to Ukraine.

Both German requests were answered in the negative, citing Swiss neutrality and the mandatory waiver criteria under the war material law, the spokesman said.
