Moscow has taken timely measures to reduce the risks as a result of the actions of the West, is switching more actively to national currencies in its calculations—including with Azerbaijan and Armenia. Denis Gonchar, Director of the Fourth Department of the CIS Countries of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told this to RIA Novosti.

"We have begun to take measures in advance to reduce the risks associated with the West's actual unscrupulous actions in the world economy," Gonchar said.

He noted that, according to expert estimates, about 30 percent of all trade between Russia and Azerbaijan is carried out in Russian rubles, and the "architecture" of Russian-Azerbaijani economic relations is generally less exposed to external negative factors and is quickly adapting to non-standard situations.

According to Gonchar, Russia is one of the leading economic partners of Azerbaijan and is first among the importers of Azerbaijani oil products.
