Norway will contribute NOK 400 million ($44 million) to the UK's initiative to purchase arms and military equipment for Ukraine, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said.
Speaking to the Norwegian parliament, Støre said the move would allow Ukraine to be supported with weapons that the Norwegian military does not have.
The prime minister added that donating weapons to a side participating in the war was a new experience for Norway.
Earlier, Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram announced that Norway donated the Mistral air defense system to Ukraine.
According to the Ministry of Defense, Norway previously transferred a total of 4,000 anti-tank missiles and several types of protective equipment, as well as other military equipment.
