YEREVAN. - A rally of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) kicked off in Liberty Square of Yerevan minutes ago.

Leaders of ANC, in particular Armenia’s First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan are expected to deliver speeches.

Opening the rally, ANC member, chief editor of Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper Nikol Pashinyan congratulated the gathered on the third anniversary of the Armenian National Congress.

“It is time to sweep the ruling regime. We are ready to fight, to fight till the end,” he stressed.

According to him, among the achievements of ANC is country’s liberation from political prisoners and government’s incline to the idea of a dialogue.

The last opposition meeting took place in late June. On July 18 ANC and the ruling coalition held the first round of talks on various issues, including snap elections. The third regular meeting is scheduled for August 4.  

The Armenian National Congress is an oppositional union founded in 2008 and leaded by first president of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan. Oppositional union comprises 17 political parties.
