YEREVAN.- The delegations of the Armenian ruling coalition and the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) agreed to meet twice a week on Tuesday and Friday, representatives of both sides told journalists on Thursday.

Head of ruling coalition’s delegation Davit Harutunyan said the sides had discussed the issues of traffic, as well as an incident which occurred during the recent rally.

He stressed that the dialogue with the opposition must be held as a declaration of will and cannot be limited to the deadlines quoted by the opposition.

During the August 2 rally ANC leaders said that if the agreement on early parliamentary and presidential elections will not be achieved till September, the dialogue will be exhausted.

“We do not set deadlines and are ready to work together,” said the head of the ruling coalition’s delegation.

In his turn, the head of ANC delegation Levon Zurabyan said that government’s behavior deepens doubts urging to think about simulation of dialogue by ruling coalition.

“Removing of the ban on broadcasting reports about the ANC rallies by Armenian Public Television and other TV channels, as well as elimination of violations such as intimidation of the population on the eve of demonstrations and disruption of public transport should be conducted by any law-abiding government,” he said. “However, while holding dialogue, the government at the same continues to ignore the Constitution and laws, violates the rights of citizens, including the right to freedom of movement.”

He recalled that Davit Harutunyan was informed of a police attack on young people announcing the recent rally adding that the ANC will demand coalition’s explanations on the issue in the near future.
