YEREVAN. – A magnetic storm is expected on Thursday and Friday as a result of the explosion occurred on the sun on Tuesday.
The magnetic storm effect is greater in high mountainous regions of Armenia and its effect is dangerous for people with cardiovascular diseases, co-chair of Armenian astronomical society Areg Mickaelian told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
According to him, the storm influences on ionosphere and the magnetic field fluctuates as a result. These fluctuations may leave detrimental results.
“We will face the repetition of 11-year cycle of the activation of the sun in 2013-2014. Moreover, the explosions will be stronger. However, they are possible to predict,” Mickaelian said and added that such phenomena occur from time to time and people are more aware of them.
The field needs to be studied thoroughly. Its study will help not only to predict the upcoming magnetic storm on the earth, but also to warn about possible changes of magnetic storms, stated Mickaelian.
The magnetic storm is stronger in the Poles, while it is milder in Armenia.
