Peruvian President Pedro Castillo will file a motion to invalidate the decision of the Attorney General to open a preliminary investigation against him due to suspicions of corruption. This was announced by the lawyer of the head of state Benji Espinosa, reports TASS.

The Attorney General's Office said Sunday that Attorney General Pablo Sanchez had ordered a preliminary investigation into Castillo on suspicion of corruption.

Earlier, the defendants in this case were the ex-Minister of Transport Juan Silva, who headed the department from July 2021 to February 2022, and six deputies of the Popular Action party.

According to the prosecution, they helped certain entrepreneurs receive government orders in the field of infrastructure. The Attorney General considered that Castillo could be involved in a criminal scheme.
