Turkey and the UAE discussed cooperation in the field of military training and the defense industry, said Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar.
Akar said he expects important and positive developments in bilateral cooperation in the field of military education and the defense industry in the near future.
According to the Turkish Ministry of National Defense, Hulusi Akar discussed with his UAE counterpart Mohammed bin Ahmad Al Bowardi bilateral and regional issues, as well as cooperation in the field of military training and the defense industry.
According to Sabah, Turkey and the UAE signed two memorandums of understanding to develop relations in the defense industry.
Government officials and companies from the two countries met in Ankara, according to a statement from the Defense Industry Board (SSB).
The meeting, hosted by SSB, was attended by SSB chief Ismail Demir, CEO of the Tawazun Economic Council, the UAE supply organization Tarek Abdul Rahim Al Hosani, senior military officials and company executives.
MoUs were signed between the Defense and Aerospace Manufacturers Association (SASAD) and its partner organization in the UAE, the Emirates Defense Companies Council (EDDC), for industrial cooperation, and between TR TEST and Tawazun for testing and certification.
As a result of efforts to expand cooperation between Turkey and the UAE in the field of defense industry, during the visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the UAE in February, a letter of intent for cooperation in the defense industry was signed between the two countries.
