The parties to the conflict in Yemen agreed to prolong the ceasefire for two more months, UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg announced this on Thursday, TASS reported.
"I would like to announce that the parties to the conflict have agreed to the United Nations’ proposal to renew the current truce in Yemen for two additional months. The extension of the truce comes into effect when the current truce period expires, today 2 June 2022 at 19:00 Yemen time," Grundberg's office said in a statement posted on its website.
In addition, the UN special envoy said that the truce has significantly reduced civilian casualties over the past two months, increased fuel supplies through the port of Hodeidah, and resumed commercial flights from Sanaa airport.
