The United States is imposing sanctions against several Russian businessmen and members of the government, the U.S. Treasury Department said.

A total of 17 names were added to the restrictive lists.

The ministry said that sanctions are directed against several prominent members of the Russian government, including a person close to Putin.

In addition, the sanctions affected Maria Zakharova, a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, and Alexei Mordashov, head of Severgroup.
