YEREVAN . - Armenian police filed criminal a case against 7 young activists of oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC), who were taken to Kentron police department on Tuesday.
Criminal case was filed under Part 3, Paragraph 1 of article 258 of the Criminal code (hooliganism), and article 316, part 1 (violence against law enforcement agents), police press service official told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
Tigran Arakelyan , Sahak Muradyan, Areg Gevorgayn, Sargis Gevorgyan, Artak Karapetyan, David Kiramijyan and Vahagn Gevorgyan are apprehended, investigation is underway.
“All young men were detained and taken to police custody illegally. The lawyer didn’t even see the arrest records,” lawyer Stepan Voskanyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
According to him, when the young activists refused to testify, the police exerted violence against them and their lawyers. Lawyer Vahe Hovsepyan and Voskanyan himself were not allowed to see the activists.
Earlier Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that ANC activists have been detained on Tuesday, around 10:00 p.m. from Northern Avenue of Yerevan downtown.
