Spanish company SATLANTIS has proudly announced the agreement with Armenia on Urdaneta satellite.

"After the successful launch of Urdaneta from Cape Canaveral, the company announces an agreement for the delivery of a complete Earth observation system to Geocosmos, an Armenian subsidiary of the Armenian Ministry of High Technology Industry. "Urdaneta," working name ARMSAT_1, will be the country's first satellite in space, and Armenia will be a de facto member of the elected club of space nations, the country's prime minister said in a statement.

“We are proud to transfer our satellite Urdaneta as Armsat_1 the first satellite of the Armenian strategy. We will accompany the government decisions creating jobs, talent and products”, Jean-Jacques Dordain, president of the Spanish company said.

In addition, several major countries still lack satellites with 2m resolution, such as ARMSAT_1. This is just the beginning of a long-term vision, called the new Armenian Space Strategy, which will develop the national capacity of the industry and the talent of young engineers, replicating the model proposed by SATLANTIS.

Thanks to this agreement Armenia is launching a satellite in an incredibly short 8-month period.

After the successful launch, the first Armenian Satellite, ARMSAT_1 is in good health and ready to accomplish the public service by delivering actionable data for at least the next 4 years.

Details and first results of this space project will be presented to the public at the Starmus Festival in Yerevan, where nine Nobel laureates will take part and present their advanced scientific views for the coming years.
