Abbaszadeh Meshkini, spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament, said lawmakers in the parliament (Majlis) will consider suspending membership in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) as soon as possible, Mehr reported.

Meshkini noted that Iran will continue the negotiation process until positive results are achieved and the country's national interests are ensured.

If the negotiations do not bring positive results, we will not insist on continuing negotiations, he said.

Turning to the issue of Iran's membership in the NPT, the legislator said that the suspension of Iran's membership in the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty should be scrupulously considered as soon as possible in order to properly decide on this issue.

He also commented on the visit of the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi to Iran and stated that it is necessary to create restrictions for such visits, since his visit to the country did not bring any positive results.
