Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett told the British newspaper The Telegraph that Tehran was "dangerously close" to developing nuclear weapons.

Iran is enriching uranium at an unprecedented rate and is perilously close to getting its hands on a nuclear weapon, he said.

Bennett urged the international community to join Israel and increase pressure against Iran's nuclear program and ambitions.

Without pressure from the West, the Islamic regime in Iran could very soon get its hands on a nuclear bomb, Bennett said.

The world needs to take a stand and tell the Islamic regime in Iran: no nuclear bombs, no sanctions. Iran's nuclear program will not stop until it is stopped, he concluded.

The Telegraph article also reports that Israel has asked the UK to create a so-called "trigger" to impose tougher sanctions on Iran if it continues its current nuclear efforts.

As the newspaper notes, this mechanism will operate separately from any possible future deal between Iran and the West.
