In addition to weapons that have already been tested on the battlefield, the Russian armed forces began to receive S-500 anti-air and anti-missile defense systems, which have no analogs in the world. Excellent results were obtained when testing the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, Vladimir Putin told to graduates of Russia's higher military educational institutions, MK reported.

The Russian president said that the first Sarmat system is to be put on combat duty in late 2022.

"We will continue to develop and strengthen our Armed Forces, taking into account potential military threats and risks based on the lessons of contemporary armed conflicts, and improve the combat staff," Putin said. Among the priorities is equipping the troops with new weapon systems that will determine the combat effectiveness of the Russian Navy and Army for years, if not decades to come.

"We will have to make wider, much wider use of robotics of the latest reconnaissance controls, unmanned aerial vehicles," the Russian president said, adding that Russia plans to actively develop weapons systems based on new physical principles, including electromagnetic and laser weapons.
