Iranian Atomic Energy Organization spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi said the country had already notified the International Atomic Energy Agency of its intention to enrich uranium to 20% purity using a cascade of centrifuges launched two weeks ago, Tasnim reported.

Kamalvandi said on Sunday that this is the final technical stage of the process.

He said Iran had informed the UN nuclear agency in advance of its plan to pump uranium gas into the cascade of IR-6 centrifuges at the Fordow facility.

According to Kamalvandi, the Western media began to inflate this issue as soon as the IAEA confirmed the fact of uranium enrichment in Iran.

Kamalvandi said on Sunday that Iran informed the UN nuclear agency about pumping uranium hexafluoride (UF6) gas into a cascade of IR6 centrifuges about two weeks ago, Press TV reported.

Iran's move yesterday to produce 20% of the output from this cascade was the last technical step of a pre-announced measure, he said, adding that what the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has done is in line with its legitimate responsibility to launch and power 1,000 (six cascades) of IR6 centrifuges.
