Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that the inhabitants of the country need to prepare for a difficult winter and to warm up their homes, Sputnik Moldova reported.

"Everyone is preparing for a hard winter. I'm sorry to say, but we also need to be prepared for such a winter. This means, as much as possible, to insulate houses to reduce heat loss," Sandu said.

She also noted that the government is working on a compensation mechanism for citizens.

The day before, Sandu denied the possibility of discussing more favorable gas contracts with the Russian leadership. She said that she did not regret that she did not go to Moscow for a more favorable agreement.
