YEREVAN. – Certain political parties are holding talks with leaders of religious organizations in the pre-election campaign in Armenia to gain votes in the upcoming elections, Alexander Amaryan, Head of Center for Rehabilitation and Assistance to Victims of Destructive Cults told a press conference in Yerevan on Wednesday.

“Since the election period has already begun, this mechanism has been put into practice. Negotiations are underway with leaders of religious organizations. It is enough to give money to the leaders of these organizations. Meetings are held at restaurants and different places. If the leaders of religious organizations used to be pleased with money, today they seek to gain seats in the Armenian National Assembly,” Amaryan emphasized.

At the same time, none of the participants of press-conference agreed to name these political forces.

Referring to Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent’s question, whether these forces are currently in the Armenian parliament, a priest Shmavon Ghevondyan said: “What do you want, aziz jan (baby), it won’t change anything.”

“My answer may seem a little Jewish but they are those forces who are in need of more votes at the upcoming elections. You yourselves analyze things,” in his turn Amaryan said
