Turkish and French Presidents Recep Erdogan and Emmanuel Macron discussed the implementation of a project for the joint production of SAMP-T air defense systems.
According to Anadolu, Erdogan said during the phone conversation that Turkey expects "to ensure the launch of a supply project to develop a joint system, including maximum cooperation under the principle of full transparency."
Earlier this year, the issue was discussed at a meeting between the Turkish president and the leaders of Italy and France in Brussels.
During NATO meetings in Brussels, Erdogan met with his French counterpart Macron and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, "the main issue was Eurosam SAMP/T and the defense system," Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said.
Erdogan and Macron also discussed decisions taken to facilitate Ukrainian grain exports at quadrilateral talks held in Istanbul.
Erdoğan said that during the meeting in Istanbul, it was agreed that the process of Ukrainian grain exports would be managed from a coordination center to be established in Istanbul and managed by officials from Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and the United Nations.
