The United Arab Emirates has launched a fund of 3 billion dirhams (more than 816 million) to support its space program and a new initiative to develop radar satellites.

UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan made the announcement on Twitter.

Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said the fund aims to support the creation of national companies in the space sector and encourage national strategic and research projects.
