A British man has been found dead alongside a woman with serious injuries at a hotel in Italy, Manchester Evening News reported.

The couple, who are from Manchester according to reports in MailOnline, were found at the four-star Hotel Continentale in Florence on Saturday morning.

According to local media reports, a 40-year-old man was found in his hotel room after staff alerted the police.

He is reported to have arrived in the Italian city on Friday night with a 43-year-old woman, who is understood to be his partner.

The woman is being treated at the city’s Careggi hospital after being found with serious injuries.

Local police and forensic teams were seen at the luxury hotel on Saturday.

Hotel staff were unable to provide any further information regarding the incident.
