Turkey expects the UN plan on the grain issue to start being implemented in the coming days, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

A memorandum on grain could be signed this week at a meeting of delegations from Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and the United Nations, Erdogan said. He also said the grain export process would be controlled from a center in Istanbul, RIA Novosti reported.

"At last week's technical meeting in Istanbul, an agreement was reached on the main lines of the process within the UN plan. This week we want to tie this memorandum into a written text," the Turkish president told reporters on his plane on his return from Iran.

"The process will be conducted from a coordination center to be established in Istanbul. In addition to our country, there will be officials from Russia, Ukraine and the UN," Recep Tayyip Erdogan said. Earlier, a source told RIA Novosti that the provisional date for a new meeting of the delegations of Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and the UN on grain issues is 20-21 July, and only technical details need to be agreed upon.

The meeting of the delegations of Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN on the grain issue on 13 July resulted in determining safe routes in the Black Sea, through which vessels would take out grain until Ukrainian ports are cleared, a source of the agency also said.

At that time, ahead of the negotiations, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that the Ukrainian side was "two steps away" from an agreement with Russia on grain exports, Kommersant reported.
