Belgian deputies ratified the prisoner exchange treaty with Iran.
Of 131 deputies present, 79 voted in favor, 41 against the treaty and 11 abstained.
The move potentially paves the way for the release of Iranian diplomat Assadullah Assadi, convicted on terrorism charges.
As Mehr notes, in violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, a court in Belgium sentenced the Iranian diplomat to 20 years in prison on charges that Iran had previously denied.
