YEREVAN.- If a young man, no matter what political party he belongs to, is violating public order he must be brought to senses, MP from ruling Armenian Republican Party Hovhannes Sahakyan told journalists.

His comment came after an August 9 controversial incident which broke out between the activists of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) and law enforcers in the Armenian capital.

“An investigation is underway and relevant assessment of the incident will be given. If law enforces broke law, they should be brought to responsibility,” said MP.

At the same time, former chairman of Ramkavar Azatakan Party Eduard Antinyan, present at a press conference, said tension is needed to provide a favorable pretext in case of leaving the dialogue between the opposition and authorities.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, policemen detained seven opposition activists on August 9. On August 12, 2011, Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative court of general jurisdiction ruled against Tigran Arakelyan, Sargis Karapetyan and Artak Gevorgyan sentencing them to two months detention, yet the other activists were released on recognizance.
