The US Department of State urges Armenia and Azerbaijan to achieve a comprehensive peace agreement. Vedant Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesperson at the Bureau of Global Public Affairs at the US Department of State, noted about this during Tuesday’s State Department press briefing.

A reporter reminded Patel that the President of European Council, Charles Michel, will host next meeting between Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev Wednesday in Brussels, and asked what the US State Department’s expectations are from that meeting and also other communications between the two countries asides Tuesday’s meeting in Moscow.

“And on your final question about Armenia and Azerbaijan, I don’t have any updates for you other than to reiterate what we’ve previously said, that the United States remains committed to promoting a secure, stable, democratic, prosperous, and peaceful future for the South Caucasus region, and we urge Armenia and Azerbaijan to intensify their diplomatic engagement and achieve a comprehensive peace agreement,” Patel responded.
