Taiwan will exercise its right to self-defense and counterattack if the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) forces violate its administrative boundary line. It is reported by Reuters with reference to the representative of the Ministry of Defense of the island.

With regard to aircraft and ships that enter our sea and air territory within 12 nautical miles, the Taiwan national army will apply the right of self-defense and counterattack without exception, said Lin Wen-Huang, deputy chief of the General Staff. He added that the same rule applies to Chinese drones.

Сhina is said to be continuing high-intensity military patrols near Taiwan. The island considers Beijing's desire to make the Taiwan Strait its inland sea the main source of instability in the region.

The Taiwan issue has been open since 1949, when the communist People's Republic of China was proclaimed on the mainland, and the Kuomintang party that ruled the country before fled to Taiwan.
