Poland will order 48 more AHS Krab self-propelled howitzers and 36 related vehicles from local weapons manufacturer Huta Stalowa Wola worth PLN 3.8 billion ($797 million), National Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said on Monday, Reuters reported.

This is the second contract, the first one was concluded in 2016 and is still being implemented, the value of the contract is PLN 3.8 billion, Blaszczak said.

In 2016, the Polish military ordered 96 self-propelled howitzers from Huta Stalowa Wola with delivery by 2024.

The maximum firing range of the AHS Krab is 40 kilometers.

Poland has promised to increase defense spending to 3% of GDP and more than double the size of its army.

At the end of May, Polish Radio reported that Poland had transferred 18 AHS Krab self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine.
