The Booker Prize is one of the most prestigious awards in the world of English literature. It has been awarded since 1969. Until 2014, only citizens of Great Britain, Ireland and the British Commonwealth could be finalists. Since 2014, the rules have changed. Now writers with any passport can receive the prize, as long as the novel is in English and published by an official publisher in Great Britain in the year of the award.

Winners have included Salman Rushdie, Kazuo Ishiguro, William Golding, Margaret Atwood, and others. The winner of the 2022 Booker Prize will be announced on October 17.
