Russian air carriers continue to operate in Armenia. The US Embassy in Yerevan noted this in a security alert it issued Thursday.

“The U.S. Embassy informs U.S. citizens that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has downgraded the air safety rating for Russia given that Russia’s civil aviation authority is not in compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) safety standards for oversight of Russian air carrier operations. This FAA air safety rating does not apply to Armenian air carriers or Armenian-owned or operated aircraft,” the embassy added.

As for the actions to take, the aforesaid diplomatic mission noted to “consider travel options beyond Russian air carriers,” and to monitor the FAA website for updates.
