A California resident has been arrested for murder. He chopped off a woman's head with a sword, NYP reports.

Law enforcement sources said officers from the San Carlos County Sheriff's Office found the victim around 11:50 a.m. in San Carlos. Sources told a local publication that she had been beheaded with a sword. The suspect, whose name is not immediately disclosed, knew the victim.

The nature of their relationship, as well as the motive for the murder, has not yet been disclosed.
