IRGC IRI Navy Commodore Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri said on Saturday that the recently unveiled locally built warship Martyr Suleimani allows IRGC naval forces to be present in international waters, Mehr reported.

Commander of IRGC Navy noted that over the past few years, there have been 9 cases when IRGC Navy received defense achievements of domestic production, the latest of which was the locally produced Martyr Soleimani warship, which was handed over to IRGC Navy.

He explained that the warship was built by young Iranian specialists at a time when the country was under severe sanctions, stressing that the local design and construction of the warship implies that sanctions can be neutralized, something the Leader of the Islamic Revolution has always insisted on.

Admiral Tangsiri added that young Iranian experts in science-intensive firms have been working on the design and production of the Martyr Soleimani warship for nearly the past three years.

The IRGC naval commander also stated that the presence of IRGC naval forces in the Persian Gulf has led to lasting stability and continued maritime security in the region, assuring countries in the region that naval forces under his command with their means and capabilities can secure the region in cooperation with them.

The warship was officially launched on September 5.
