In northeastern China's Heilongjiang province, a man surnamed Hu has been unable to descend from a balloon that flew away for two days, the Associated Press reported.

The incident occurred on Sunday, Sept. 4. Hu and his partner were using the balloon to pick pine nuts. Suddenly it detached itself and began to go upward. The partner managed to jump to the ground, but Hu was left in the basket.

The next day, rescuers were able to contact Hu by cell phone. They instructed him to let the air out of the balloon slowly and land safely.

Another day passed before the man managed to get down to the ground. During that time, the balloon traveled about 320 kilometers. It landed in Fancheng County, China, not far from the Russian border.

Hu was not hurt and complained only of lower back pain, presumably related to standing the entire time he was in the air. He was taken to the hospital and given the necessary medical treatment.
