YEREVAN. – The head of the Department of Defense Policy and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense (MOD) of Armenia, Levon Ayvazyan, and the deputy head of the main operational department of the Armed Forces, Colonel Albert Baghdadyan, on Tuesday morning met—at the administrative complex of the MOD—with the military attachés of foreign embassies accredited in Armenia, and briefed them situation created as a result of the large-scale provocation of the Azerbaijani side, Armenian News-NEWS.am has learned from the MOD.

It was noted that Azerbaijan intensively uses various large-caliber artillery and firearms and drones against not only military, but also civilian infrastructure. The Armenian side has casualties and wounded.

The subdivisions of the Armenian Armed Forces continue to carry out the combat tasks assigned to them, taking all necessary measures to counter the enemy.

It was emphasized that the military and political leadership of Azerbaijan bears full responsibility for this large-scale provocation.

Starting from 12:05am on Tuesday, the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces started firing intensively—from artillery and large-caliber firearms—at Armenia’s positions toward Goris, Kapan, Sotk, Jermuk, Artanish, and Ishkhanasar. The adversary is using drones, too. As a result of this large-scale provocation by the Azerbaijani side, an intense shootout has begun. The adversary is attacking both military and civilian objects, and is carrying out positional advance operations in some directions. Positional battles are going on. The Ministry of Defense informs that the Armenian side has casualties and wounded; the data is being verified.
