The CSTO considers the use of force on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan unacceptable. This is noted in a commentary Tuesday by the CSTO Secretariat.

"On the night of September 13, 2022, combat clashes took place on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan—with the use of heavy weapons and UAVs. As a result, there are casualties and wounded.

We consider the use of force unacceptable. Political and diplomatic methods and the agreements stipulated in the statements of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia on November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021 should solely be used for the settlement of disputes.

We laud the mediating efforts of the Russian Federation in achieving a ceasefire on the line of contact, as of 9am on September 13 of this year.

In connection with the petition of the Armenian side to the Collective Security Council of the CSTO to provide assistance to the Republic of Armenia, the secretariat of the organization, together with the Joint Headquarters of the CSTO, organized the work of launching the mechanisms of the CSTO to settle the situation," reads, in particular, the comment of the CSTO Secretariat.
