Argentina's Vice President Cristina Kirchner has received further death threats since the assassination attempt on September 1, TN television reported.

It is alleged that almost immediately after the incident, an unknown woman called the emergency services of the city of La Plata and told about the plans to kill Kirchner. This information was confirmed by Security Minister Anibal Fernandez. The vice president's security has now been strengthened.

On September 1, an armed man tried to kill Kirchner. The attacker and his two associates were detained by police. The politician herself was not injured. The incident happened outside Kirchner's home in Buenos Aires as she was meeting with her supporters. The man pointed a gun at the vice president's face, but did not fire. Local media noted that the gun may have misfired.
