The statement that the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan is not defined is incorrect, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the session of the Armenian National Assembly during the government hour on Wednesday, answering the questions of MPs.

Political maps, he said, must have a legal basis, otherwise it is "not a map, but a painting."

"The borders that separated the Armenian and Azerbaijani SSR were fixed by the Almaty Declaration on the aims and principles of the CIS, signed in 1991. Therefore, there is a border, and it was violated by Azerbaijan in two stages: in May 2021 and now. And Armenia should use all diplomatic and military-political methods to protect its sovereignty," Pashinyan said.

At midnight on September 13 the Azerbaijani Armed Forces started intensive shelling of Armenian positions located in Sotk, Vardenis, Goris, Kapan, Artanish and Ishkhanasar. Strikes are also directed to civilian infrastructure objects. Armenian sides has at least 100 deaths. The Armenian government has already appealed to Russia, the CSTO and the UN Security Council in connection with the Azerbaijani aggression against the sovereign territory of the republic.
