Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, who previously conceded defeat in parliamentary elections, has tendered her resignation to Parliament Speaker Andreas Norlen, Nordic News reported.

Swedish Prime Minister Andersson is submitting her resignation to the speaker of parliament, the report said. Andersson earlier said she would lead the Social Democrats in opposition in the new government.

Parliamentary elections in the kingdom were held on September 11. After counting 99% of the votes, the right-wing bloc of parties represented by the Moderate Coalition Party, the Liberals, the Christian Democrats and the Swedish Democrats was leading with 49.5%. The red-green bloc of the ruling parties (the Social Democratic Labor Party of Sweden, the Left Party, the Greens, and the Center Party) received 48.8% of the vote. Each party bloc would receive 176 and 173 seats in parliament, respectively.
