In a number of settlements in Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor and Syunik Provinces of Armenia, children's right to education has been violated. According to education ministry, the decision has been made to grant leave to public educational institutions in the settlements of those three provinces as needed, on the condition that the missed class hours will be filled in the future.
According to Deputy Minister Zhanna Andreasyan, around 25,000 students from 172 schools are currently not attending school, their right to education is violated.
“We are also talking about 69 kindergartens, where there are about 6 thousand children. Of course, the activity of schools, colleges, and extracurricular institutions in those settlements is also at risk," she said.
