YEREVAN. - Armenians are among observers at the presidential elections in Abkhazia, head of local Armenian community Suren Kerselyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

As of 3:00 p.m. the voter turnout made 48 percent, announced Abkhazian Central Election Committee.

Armenian community is the second ethnic group in Abkhazia.

Snap presidential elections in Abkhazia were called for August 26 after President Sergey Bagapsh passed away.  There are three main candidates: Vice President Alexander Ankvab, Prime Minister Seregy Shamba and chairman of the opposition “Forum of People’s Unity of Abkhazia” party Raul Khajimba.
