Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan intends to visit Israel, he said during a meeting with leaders of American Jewish organizations in New York on Monday, reports the Times of Israel.

Erdogan also said that antisemitism is a "crime against humanity."

The meeting, convened under the auspices of the Turkish Embassy and the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, was held in New York.

Last month, Turkey and Israel announced that they plan to fully restore diplomatic relations, which have been frayed since 2010 when an Israeli commando raid on the Gaza-bound ship Mavi Marmara, part of a blockade-breaking flotilla, killed 10 Turkish activists.

President Isaac Herzog visited Turkey in March of this year, and on Monday the Israeli Foreign Ministry announced the appointment of a new ambassador to Turkey.
