CSTO mission led by Secretary General Stanislav Zas arrived in Armenia to study the situation, including the situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan and prepare proposals for additional joint measures

According to the CSTO Press Service, "in accordance with a decision of the Extraordinary Session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, a mission led by CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas arrived in the Republic of Armenia on September 20. The mission includes representatives of CSTO member States, who are the members of the Organization's working bodies.

The Mission is tasked to assess the existing situation, prepare a detailed report to the heads of CSTO member states on the situation in the region and develop proposals to de-escalate the tension in certain areas on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

During the work of the mission it is planned to study and monitor the current situation in the border areas, as well as to hold meetings with senior political and military leadership of the Republic of Armenia.

On the previous day, the advance team of the CSTO Mission headed by Colonel General Anatoly Sidorov, Head of the CSTO Joint Staff, completed its work in Armenia.
