The protection of internationally recognized borders and the territorial integrity of the countries of the South Caucasus is an "unavoidable necessity," the National Security statement and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament said https://en.mehrnews.com/news/191713/Violating-territorial-integrity-of-countries-unacceptable in connection with the latest aggravation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The statement notes that any violation of the border is unacceptable and contrary to the principles of international law. "Unfortunately, in recent months, some movements have led to the violation of the balance and agreements on security and politics in this sensitive region.  The Islamic Republic of Iran calls upon the countries of the region to respect good neighborliness and to respond appropriately and decisively to the seditious incitement carried out by the Zionist regime (Israel) and NATO in the region through geopolitical conspiracy plans.

In accordance with its inherent duty and mission, the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament will follow the developments in the Caucasus region more closely and take necessary measures to protect the inalienable rights of the Iranian nation.

As a specialized commission tasked to follow the country's security and foreign policy issues, the Commission has held several expert-level meetings with relevant institutions regarding the developments in the South Caucasus region, the results of which are expected to help restore stability and security in the region," the statement said.
