The European Commission has advised member states to grant candidacy status to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Reuters reports.
EU Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhei told a committee of the European Parliament that the European Commission recommends granting candidate status to member states pending a series of fundamental reform commitments.
The recommendation was eagerly awaited in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which lags behind several other Balkan countries in obtaining candidate status to join the European club of 27 nations.
