U.S. President Joe Biden, during a speech in Colorado in which he declared Camp Hale a national monument, made a mistake and said that his son died in Iraq, the Fox News television channel reported.

Biden mentioned that Colorado trained U.S. military personnel who later participated in World War II, and then moved on from the exploits of U.S. soldiers to a story about his son.

"I say this as a father of a man and won the Bronze Star, the conspicuous service medal, and lost his life in Iraq. Imagine the courage, the daring, and the genuine sacrifice — genuine sacrifice they all made." Biden said.

Beau, Biden's oldest son, served in Iraq from 2008-2009. He died in 2015 at age 46 of brain cancer after being hospitalized. Joe Biden speculated that his son's cancer could have been caused by exposure to toxic substances released during the burning of waste at U.S. military bases, including in Iraq.

Biden repeatedly made mistakes in public speeches: he confused words, names and positions, which caused bewilderment among others and was widely discussed on social networks.
