Saboteurs were arrested while attempting to undermine the Turkish Stream pipeline, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, Interfax reported.

"Some forces, about the possible origin of these forces Putin hinted, (...) they have already encroached on the Turkish Stream as well. Saboteurs were taken, several people were arrested. They wanted to blow it up. On our territory, onshore," Peskov told reporters on Thursday.

Earlier in October, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Ukrainian authorities had tried to blow up one of the sections of Turkish Stream.

According to Peskov, Europe is actually deprived of the possibility, even if it has to, to buy Russian gas, "Turkish Stream" is the only reliable route, so Putin suggested to his Turkish colleague Tayyip Erdogan to build a gas hub.

"The gas hub is really a very interesting topic. Look, there have been terrorist attacks, and indeed Europe is actually deprived of the possibility, even if they have to, of buying our gas," Peskov told reporters, according to RIA Novosti.

He added that now Europe is doomed to buy expensive liquefied gas from Americans. At the same time, "Turkish Stream" remains the only reliable route. "Since it is the only reliable route now, Putin suggested the possibility of making a separate hub on the Turkish border to supply gas to those wishing to do so," Peskov said.
