Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov briefed his colleagues on the progress of the special operation, the results of the referendums on the liberated territories and their incorporation into the Russian Federation during a meeting of the CIS Foreign Ministry.
The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the foreign ministers of the CIS member states exchanged opinions on topical international and regional issues and identified key areas of cooperation within the organization for the future. "Special attention was paid to the situation around Ukraine. Sergey Lavrov informed the partners in detail about the progress of the special military operation, the results of referendums in the liberated territories and their incorporation into Russia."
The meeting resulted in important decisions aimed at strengthening integration ties in the law enforcement, cultural, humanitarian and human rights spheres. The Regulation on the Commission of Plenipotentiaries for Children's Rights of the Commonwealth member states was approved, which will facilitate the establishment of closer ties through "children's ombudsmen".
The ministers also agreed on a plan of multilevel consultations of the CIS member states in 2023.
A number of adopted decisions will be submitted for consideration by the CIS Council of Heads of State on October 14 this year and the CIS Council of Heads of Government on October 28 this year.
