Turkey conducted a test launch of its own short-range ballistic missile over the Black Sea, Bloomberg reported, citing sources.

A mobile platform was used to launch the missile from an airport near the port city of Rize around 7 a.m. local time. The projectile flew 561 kilometers before falling off the coast of the port of Sinop, the longest distance any such weapon developed in the country has traveled, the sources said.

The covert missile project, dubbed Typhoon, has been underway for several years, sources said. The Defense Industries Administration, which oversees the development of locally manufactured weapons, declined to disclose any information about the project.
