Russia does not intend to close its borders in light of the introduction of martial law in four regions, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told RIA Novosti.

Today Vladimir Putin signed a decree introducing martial law in the Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics and the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions starting October 20. The document must be approved by the Federation Council.

Martial law will take effect starting from midnight. The territories of the DPR, LPR, and Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions are under maximum security risk response mode.
